NAGA BLACK

Executive, with driver

Phuket compresses a great deal of driving into a small island. The west coast stack — Kata, Karon, and the viewpoint between them — delivers corners, gradients and Andaman views in quick succession, and Promthep Cape at the southern tip is the standard sunset finish. Patong Hill is short, steep and heavily trafficked; treat it as a connection, not a driving road, and mind the brakes on the descent.

The proper run is north: over Sarasin Bridge into Phang Nga province, where the roads flatten out along the coast towards the limestone karsts. Khao Lak makes an easy half-day return. East towards Phang Nga town and on to Krabi is a full day and one of southern Thailand's better drives — all within your rental terms, provided the car stays on the mainland road network.

On the island, the scene concentrates around Bang Tao and Layan: beach clubs with valet, villa estates, and an airport 20 minutes away. Villa delivery is our default in Phuket — most guests never see a rental office. NAGA BLACK runs a steady trade here too: airport meet-and-greet, wedding fleets for villa ceremonies, and evening disposals into Old Town.

Practicalities: Thailand's national licence rules apply — an International Driving Permit alongside your home licence, unless you hold an ASEAN licence. Scooters are everywhere and unpredictable; drive defensively, especially at night. Wet season, May to October, leaves roads greasy in the first minutes of rain. The airport run to the southern beaches takes about 45 minutes.

Common questions
Can I drive off the island?

Yes, over Sarasin Bridge to the mainland. Phang Nga and Krabi are within standard terms — just share your route with us. Vehicle ferries are not covered.

Do I need an IDP in Phuket?

Thailand's national rules apply: an International Driving Permit alongside your home licence, unless you hold an ASEAN licence. Carry both in the car.

Can you deliver to my villa or resort?

Yes. Villa and resort delivery across the island is our default, from Bang Tao and Layan down to Rawai. Airport handover is available for arrivals.

What should I watch for on Phuket's roads?

Scooters, above all — assume they will appear from anywhere, especially at night. Patong Hill is steep and busy, and the first ten minutes of rain leave the surface greasy in wet season.

Vehicle images on this site are for illustration. Our partner fleets vary by city and season, and the exact car, colour, trim and specification supplied are confirmed per booking with the supplying partner. Where a specific detail matters — a particular colour for a wedding, a specific model year or interior — tell us at enquiry and we will confirm it in writing before you commit.
